This xbox commercial is hilarious. I'm probably late in posting it, but it is worth a second viewing if you've already seen it.

One of my new year's resolutions again this year is to reconnect/stay in contact with my friends, so I thought posting to my blog would be a good start. Really, I already started yesterday by seeing a friend I hadn't talk to since last February and hanging with Dave, emailing a friend who emailed me in September, and sending a couple hey what's up to two other friends. I guess starting my blog again is a good next step. I always have the same resolutions, but I suppose they are worth mentioning anyway. The other ones are to stop procrastinating, eat healthy and exercise, and to finish my Masters. I am off to a good start so far with the other ones as well. I burned 500 calories on the elliptical yesterday, made some good food choices, put the house back together once my family left yesterday morning instead of taking a nap, and set aside some prep time for my classes this week. I also got a ton of work done today even though it's my first day back in 12 days. I also bought tickets to Avenue Q and made a dinner reservation for our 3rd Anniversary which is next Friday.

So enough bragging and time for a holiday recap. My family came up from FL for Christmas instead of our usual flight down south. My parents and two brothers stayed at our house for 11 days. We made cookies, visited folks from both sides of my parents' families, played a lot of guitar hero and a bunch of board games, completed two and a half puzzles, and ate a lot of food. As part of our present, my parents also helped us with a couple of house projects. We painted our basement floor with this sweet looking epoxy stuff, organized all of our storage, and almost finished putting drywall up on the garage walls. It was a very productive yet relaxing holiday. I'll post some pics on flickr shortly.

I've missed a bunch of movie reviews, but I am going to skip over last year's flicks and start anew with yesterday's viewing: Walk Hard. I was expecting the movie to be one where the trailer shows all of the funny scenes and then the movie is crap. I was pleasantly surprised by how hilarious the movie was. It had a great balance of spoof and regular comedy. Judd Apatow cowrote the film which most likely contributed to my level of enjoyment. Hopefully, the film club will be back up and running next week, so I'll have plenty more movies to review. Holla.

It’s been ages.  I thought the best way to start up again is a survey.  That way I don’t have to think too much and I can laugh as I think of people reading this and thinking I’m lame for starting my blog up again with a survey.  Tee-hee.

1. What was the highlight of your day?
It’s not over yet, but it will definitely be movie club.

2. Whose car were you in last?
Our car – Jason and I – we dumped the beetle since we carpool now.

Today prolly.

4. What color shirt are you wearing?

Nearly two months since my last update…where to start?

  • Sister Status:  On the mend – a couple days after she had been in the hospital, we found out she had blood clots in her legs.  She had to have a stint implanted and now she may not be able to go back to work as a stylist.  Luckily, she is doing really well now and getting back to some normalcy.

  • Work Status:  Slow and boring – All my courses were supposed to kick off a couple weeks ago and we keep on encountering obstacles.  One of my faculty members was on non-engagement time aka vacation for the last two weeks and now another one of my faculty is on vacation this week.  The third faculty member just started a new job on Monday and is trying to figure out her new schedule.  By the way, no faculty = no worky.  Lame.  My fourth course isn't even approved for development.

  • Home Status:  Improved - We just finished redecorating our guest room just in time for Jason's mom to visit.  And when I say just in time, I literally mean we finished the room and then picked her up from the airport.

  • Husband Status:  Awesome – We've been having lots of fun and getting projects done.  Jason also just had an interview for a hella shweet job at my company on Monday and it went really well.

  • Movie Status:  Totally Kewl – I mean, Pirates then Die Hard then Transformers then Harry Potter!  Holy Toledo!  And now Simpsons!!  Woop woop.  There is definitely enough adrenaline pumping summer flix to keep me appeased.

  • Health Status:  Kick'n – I've been getting four workouts in a week with the exception of last week when Jason's mom was in town.  I also have been making better food choices and drinking lots of water.

  • Course Status:  Double Duty – I'm taking two courses this quarter and they are looking pretty good so far.  One is on interface design where we basically design and build a website using Dreamweaver.  The other is a multimedia tools course where we complete a bunch of mini-projects to try out a bunch of applications.

I think that's good enough for now.  Peace out homeys.

Most of you do not know this, but we found out that my sister had a brain tumor about two weeks ago.  She has been in the hospital since and just had surgery this past Monday.  The last two weeks have been really surreal.  Her surgery went really well and she seems to be recovering quickly.  I really don't want to re-live the emotional rollercoaster of these past two weeks via blog, so I'll stop now.  Maybe I'll write more later...

In addition to the good news about my sister's surgery, I have really exciting news.  I just accepted a new position at my company as an associate course developer.  I am working on my Masters in Instructional Design and this position is in that field.  I am really excited!  I tentatively start June 4th or 5th which will be such a lovely birthday present.  Getting this position really makes me feel great about sticking it out in my current position and living through the ups and downs of reorg after reorg.  I probably wouldn't have made the transition to my new field as easily if I had not stayed at my company.

I'll write more later...I just wanted to get my good news out there!!  :)
